Traveler hacks: Diving on a budget
While diving enthusiast Paul M Willette believes that everyone should go into diving for many reasons that he has shared in previous blogs, he also admits that to get into scuba diving fully, a person may need to shell out money. And while the cost may be considerable, there are ways to save money.

For today's blog, Paul M Willette shares three tips on diving on a budget.
Live-aboard trips
As far as accommodations go, live-aboard trips are highly recommended, not just because divers can potentially get to more dive sites and spend a lot more time in the water on a single trip, but because live-aboard trips are a lot more affordable than living in cottages on land. Although, Paul M Willette explains that for some people, sleeping on a boat may take some getting used to.
Shore diving
While shore diving isn't as exciting because divers no longer get to use boats, diving from the shores themselves, it is a lot cheaper since divers won't need to pay for boats and everything that comes along with it. An important reminder here, though, is that divers who are going shore diving should do it with a dive buddy.
Southeast Asia
As far as affordable dive destinations go, you can't beat Southeast Asia. The bang-for-the-buck for divers in the region is unbelievable when one considers just how beautiful the sites are in this part of the world, Paul M Willette mentions.
